My Story

Perhaps practice has become a chore, and your child's enthusiasm for piano is fading. You want them to excel, but not at the cost of spending 6-10 hours a day practicing. You envision them playing with confidence, truly enjoying music, and maintaining a healthy balance between piano and other interests.

I understand. As a child, I spent countless hours in the practice room, often without the right guidance. I remember staying late, determined to improve, but feeling frustrated when my efforts didn’t translate into real progress. I practiced tirelessly, yet I struggled to retain what my teacher had taught me. I didn’t know how to fix mistakes, what to focus on, or why it mattered. Without a clear practice strategy, I wasted so much time, feeling stuck in a cycle of repetition without real growth.

Over time, I realized that progress isn’t about the number of hours spent practicing—it’s about how you practice. Without the right strategies, frustration mounts, and motivation diminishes. So, How can your child practice effectively? What should they focus on? Why does it matter?

How: My program teaches students to practice with intention, using structured methods that maximize retention and progress. Instead of mindless repetition, they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle challenges efficiently.

What: Students learn not just to play notes, but to understand music. They master the art of practice, sight-reading, and musical expression, while developing self-discipline and independence.

Why: When students know why their practice matters, they stay engaged and motivated. They see tangible results, build confidence, and truly enjoy the piano—without sacrificing balance in their lives.

Imagine your child:

  • Performing with confidence and purpose

  • Mastering efficient, results-driven practice techniques

  • Developing a deep understanding of music beyond just reading notes

  • Thriving in a structured, supportive learning environment

"As a pianist, pedagogue, collaborator, and musician, music and arts are for everyone. Everyone can create beautiful music, enjoy all kinds of music, and advocate for classical music and the arts.

My goal as a pianist is to engage my audiences in a musical journey. I want my audiences to be informed, enjoy, and learn from music selections during a performance. Therefore, the repertoire selections and musical delivery must be well thought-out, engaging, and contrasting as it serves as a journey for all audiences and performers- including myself. Furthermore, music has been a key element in human communication and its expressive nature. With this in mind, musical performances transcend us to a mere understanding of different feelings, events, and cultures worldwide.

As an educator and pedagogue, I focus on connecting my students to music by understanding the music's historical background, physical condition, and personalized technical concepts to help support their musical growth. It is also essential to establish a sense of discipline in the area. Not only will this support their journey as accomplished musicians, but this journey will allow them to connect these elements in their everyday life or future education." - Helena Aung
